Sr. Product Design Engineer
About The Position
MGT is the first AI-driven, neo-insurer focused on evolving commercial P&C insurance for the brokers and small business owners. By combining the expertise of industry veterans with state-of-the-art technology, we are ushering in the next evolution of commercial insurance and working to move the industry forward through the use of modern technology, better processes, and a rock-star team. We seek visionary leaders who thrive in dynamic, entrepreneurial settings, and excel in autonomous roles. We're looking for a senior Design Engineer who lives at the intersection of design and code. You're the person who mocks something up in Figma, then opens a terminal and builds it — or prompts Claude Code to build it while you art-direct the output. You care deeply about craft, and your portfolio proves it.
Requirements
- 5–8+ years of experience across product design and front-end development
- A portfolio of polished, visually compelling web applications you helped ship (send us the links — we want to click around)
- Deep fluency in Figma: component systems, auto layout, prototyping, design tokens
- Comfort writing production Next.js / React, or using Claude Code to generate and iterate on front-end code with a high quality bar
- Strong opinions on typography, spacing, motion, and interaction design — loosely held when the data says otherwise
- At least one reference from an engineer you've shipped with (we want to hear that you're someone devs love collaborating with)
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Tailwind CSS, Framer Motion, or similar modern front-end tooling
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows beyond Claude Code
- Background in insurance, fintech, or other regulated industries
Responsibilities
- Design and ship customer-facing web experiences end to end.
- That means owning the full arc: research and ideation, design prototypes, and production front-end code in Next.js.
- You'll work closely with engineering, product, and marketing, but you won't be waiting on anyone to translate your designs into pixels — you'll do it yourself, or pair with AI tools to move faster than a traditional handoff process allows.
