About The Position

Sr. Principal System Administrator Lead, in infrastructure Workplace Services, collaborate with a team to support fast-paced, critical programs with classified information system capabilities. Success in this role means you are able to develop, implement and maintain secure, cost-efficient environments across various classified programs. Program teams rely on your collaboration and guidance to define computing requirements and create end-to-end solutions to solve complex IT infrastructure problems. Manage and optimize the server infrastructure in a heterogeneous information system. Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Redhat Enterprise Linux environment. Lead a team of System Administrators to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of IT systems and applications within their assigned section. Provide leadership to support a varied range of administrative tasking, to include corrective/preventive maintenance, recurring operations functions, account management, and system optimization. Guide administrators whose duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space. Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and provide documentation and training on advanced IT processes and procedures and other tasks as assigned Participate in Change Request reviews, to include participating in Change Management boards at multiple program levels. Coordinate technical and process document reviews and resolving system administration, engineering, and integration issues Participate and leading technical meetings with team members and other program personnel, and representing the organization in functional area matters Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date. Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours. Travel required to other US Domestic locations as business needs dictate. Up to at 10% per year. Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Must have experience with some but not limited to, the following technologies: Active Directory, WSUS, VMware, Veeam, AWS, MySQL, Remote Desktop Gateway, and Netwrix, prior systems administration and networking administration experience, Windows or Linux administration, Windows administration, or Mac OS experience, backup, and recovery enterprise suites.
  • Must have experience in mentoring others or lead experience.

  • An active DoD Top Secret clearance with investigation date completed within the past 6 years.
  • Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification and an Operating System Certification.
  • Experience working experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, and/or DoD/RMF guidelines.
  • Experience with handling and working with classified information.
  • Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
  • Experience in the following areas: patch management, High Performance Computing, OS Upgrades, computer security, system monitoring and logging
  • Experience with Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems.
  • Experience with virtual host solutions (e.g., VMware)
  • Experience with requirements gathering, planning, and managing deployment, installation, maintenance and upgrade efforts, over multiple geographic sites.
  • Experience managing IT services and support in a 24/7 real time operational environment.
  • Experience in Leadership and mentoring of individuals and teams.
  • Industry certifications including but not limited to: Security +, CISSP, ITIL, ISC2, PMP etc.
  • Scripting Experience.
  • Experience with legacy system i.e. Solaris, Microsoft Server 2008/2012/2016. Windows NT/XP/7, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4/5/6.
  • Knowledge & Experience with FAS3250 Storage support.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence or other project management tools.
  • Experience developing and managing standard operating procedures.
  • Experience with Legacy Solaris 8,9, and 10 support, accounts, development and maintenance.
  • Knowledge & Experience with IRIX operating system & Silicon Graphics Computer Systems.
