Our OCI HW Design organization (OHD) needs an experienced System Engineer to support the rapid expansion of our Multi-Cloud product offerings. Responsibilities will include gaining a precise understanding of Multi-Cloud partner datacenter requirements, e.g., power, cooling, airflow, compute and networking performance, and physical requirements, performing system characterization (performance, power, airflow measurements) of Oracle Compute and Networking products at the rack and server/switch level, assisting in designing rack elevations, and communicating system characterization information to Multi-Cloud partners. Other responsibilities include maintaining constant communications with Multi-Cloud partners to coordinate requirements for rapid datacenter build out of additional capacity or additional locations world-wide, or the addition of new compute shapes and back-end services. Disclaimer: Certain US customer or client-facing roles may be required to comply with applicable requirements, such as immunization and occupational health mandates. Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only US: Hiring Range in USD from: $120,100 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral. Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity. Oracle US offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes the following: 1. Medical, dental, and vision insurance, including expert medical opinion 2. Short term disability and long term disability 3. Life insurance and AD&D 4. Supplemental life insurance (Employee/Spouse/Child) 5. Health care and dependent care Flexible Spending Accounts 6. Pre-tax commuter and parking benefits 7. 401(k) Savings and Investment Plan with company match 8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation. 9. 11 paid holidays 10. Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours. 11. Paid parental leave 12. Adoption assistance 13. Employee Stock Purchase Plan 14. Financial planning and group legal 15. Voluntary benefits including auto, homeowner and pet insurance The role will generally accept applications for at least three calendar days from the posting date or as long as the job remains posted. Career Level - IC5 Work with technical program managers, OCI Datacenter Operations and Multi-Cloud partners to determine technical requirements and system measurement data that must be gathered, analyzed and communicated prior to deployment of Oracle systems into target OCI or Multi-Cloud datacenters, e.g., power and airflow data for the system to be deployed is provided to the datacenter operations team to ensure new server shapes do not cause unexpected power or thermal impacts. Work with Program Managers to identify server SKUs and rack shapes that will need to ship to target datacenters; determine all rack level technical requirements that must be met, e.g., locking doors, cooling/airflow design requirements, etc. Determine the technical data requirements needed for each datacenter by working with OCI DC Ops or Multi-Cloud partners to understand what measurements and data they need before allowing the server to become active in the DC, e.g., characterizing power and airflow/liquid cooling requirements following either an OCI or Multi-Cloud partner procedure. Generate and communicate all system characterization data required to provision Oracle hardware systems in both OCI and Multi-Cloud partner datacenters. This includes both server / switch and rack levels. Document measurement errors, certifications of all test equipment used to take those measurements, and measurement techniques to allow the submitted test results to be reproduced by a third party. Align Multi-Cloud partner testing requirements with Oracle testing capabilities or in some cases platform design restrictions and identify any Oracle testing gaps; work directly with program management and Multi-Cloud partners to agree on testing changes, if necessary, from any documented baseline. Assemble test equipment, SKU hardware that matches the configuration to be deployed; align firmware and OS, BIOS settings and OS level settings to match the deployed configuration; configure test software, e.g., SPEC SERT, SPECpower, various benchmarks and stress test tools, and all testing hardware, e.g., power meters, temperature sensors, airflow monitors. Assemble and configure, as required, supporting external equipment to support the unit under test, e.g., Infiniband switches, JBOD array, separate external GPUs, and determine how this equipment is added to measurement requirements. Assemble and correlate all measurement data and convert to the format the DC owner requires for submission; deviations or other relevant adjustments to documented test procedures must be documented in full. Research and leverage, to the extent possible, previous measurement data from similar SKU's, e.g., if SKU changes are minor and not impacting the values measured
