Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Structural Engineer with MRB experience to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is based in Clearfield, Utah and is assigned to the weekend day shift. The MRB Structural Engineering team analyzes and determines suitability of nonconforming hardware in the final product to support the production line. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in a related Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or similar) and 8 years of related professional/military experience; OR Master of Science (MS) in a related Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or similar) and 6 years of related professional/military experience; OR Ph.D. in a related Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or similar) and 4 years of related professional/military experience
  • MRB experience
  • Must be willing and able to work a weekend Shift Hours: 6 am - 6pm [MDT], Friday - Sunday
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance prior to the commencement of employment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) within a reasonable time as determined by business needs

Nice To Haves

  • Current, active DoD Secret clearance (or higher)
  • Experience addressing manufacturing discrepancies through a formal MRB process
  • Experience supporting the production fabrication of composite and metallic structural details and assemblies
  • Functional knowledge of production control systems
  • Proficiency with NX and Teamcenter software

Responsibilities

  • Design repairs and determine engineering dispositions of nonconforming materials as part of the Material Review Board (MRB) process
  • Evaluate and resolve engineering related production problems related to manufacturing, design, quality, and material engineering
  • Analyze engineering specifications and drawings; confer with quality, material, manufacturing, and subcontractors to provide and acquire technical information; investigate reports of defective, damaged, or malfunctioning parts, assemblies, equipment, or systems; and reviews production schedules
  • Participate in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities
