Northrop Grumman's Space Systems sector is looking for a Senior Principal Project Manager to support the Operations & Maintenance/Sustaining Engineering Group in the Integrated Operations organization/business unit. A successful candidate works well in a fast paced environment and enjoys the opportunity to define possible. The primary objective will be to oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing project(s) and serve as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. As part of this responsibility, this individual will be required to review the status of projects and budgets Manage schedules, on time delivery of all contractually required deliveries (with a focus on being on cost and on schedule) and achieving all technical requirements. Lead a cross-functional organization aligned to common program performance goals. In the process of reporting on the status of the program it will be required that this individual can assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients. The focus in this position will be on management of satellites now in the operations phase but will also include cooperation with Business Development and ongoing programs.

  • Identify, distribute, track, and complete program requirements
  • Establish and manage the program and subordinate baselines
  • Adhere to budget baselines utilizing Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Identify, allocate and manage program resources, including workforce planning
  • Manage Government/customer supplied property or information
  • Manage suppliers to meet program objectives
  • Ensure program team understands and adheres to contract scope
  • Conduct thorough risk & opportunity management practices
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) or higher
  • 8 years of relevant experience (with Bachelor's degree)
  • Excellent communication skills and presentation experience
  • Ability to work with a diverse community of engineers and managers
  • Prior experience with on-orbit space and/or ground systems
  • Ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance with SCI level access
  • Self-Starter with excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills
  • Extensive program/product/subsystem management experience with strong technical and operations background
  • CAM experience (particularly with EVMS methodologies)
  • Prior experience on the Phoenix program
  • Experience leading satellite operations teams including anomaly resolution
  • Existing Top Secret Clearance with SCI level access
