About the Team The Business Technology Program Management Office (BT PMO) drives consistency, operational rigor, and delivery excellence across Workday’s most important technology initiatives. We partner across engineering, operations, and business platforms to ensure execution is connected to measurable results. Within the Federal space, our team is responsible for navigating the unique regulatory, security, and operational complexities required to deliver Workday’s world-class SaaS solutions to government agencies. About the Role Workday is seeking a Sr. Principal Program Manager (P6) to serve as a primary strategic driver for our Federal technology portfolio. At the P6 level, you will work on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible and variable factors. You will have wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments that impact the long-term success of Workday’s Federal market presence. This is a high-visibility role that requires creating formal networks with key decision-makers and serving as an external spokesperson for the organization on critical Federal technology initiatives.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of program management experience leading large-scale, cross-functional initiatives.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in the software as a service or enterprise technology industry.
  • 8+ years leading Federal-specific technology programs, including familiarity with FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, or compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to influence and align executive-level stakeholders across diverse functions to achieve long-term Federal goals.
  • Skilled at executive storytelling, simplifying complex regulatory requirements into actionable technical strategies.
  • Deep understanding of the Workday architecture and the dependencies required to maintain compliance in a multi-tenant environment.

Nice To Haves

  • A track record of mentoring and developing other Program Managers, acting as a "force multiplier" for the PMO.
  • Highly adaptable to changing federal regulations and shifting political or budget landscapes.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Technology, or Management.
  • Relevant certifications (PMP, PgMP, or equivalent) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead the planning and execution of Workday’s most complex, cross-functional Federal programs, including FedRAMP authorizations, IL4/IL5 migrations, and sovereign cloud initiatives.
  • High-Stakes Decision Making: Exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results in environments with significant regulatory and security constraints.
  • External Representation: Serve as a key liaison and spokesperson for Business Technology in discussions with government auditors, agency partners, and external regulatory bodies.
  • Complex Problem Solving: Resolve critical issues and broad design matters that impact Federal design success or address future concepts and technologies.
  • Ecosystem Orchestration: Create and maintain formal networks across engineering, legal, security, and compliance groups to ensure seamless delivery of Federal mandates.
