The Opportunity The responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline; PE licensure is preferred.
  • 10+ years of project management experience in automation, controls, and systems integration, with at least 5 years supporting large-scale capital projects in Life Sciences, Data Centers, or High-Tech industries.
  • Proven hands-on experience delivering Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS), lighting controls, PLC automation, and facilities controls within complex infrastructure projects.
  • Deep familiarity with BMS/EMS platforms such as Siemens Desigo, Honeywell Forge, Schneider EcoStruxure, and IoT sensor integration.
  • Experience deploying robotics in operational environments and understanding of digital twin technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of interoperability standards such as BACnet, MQTT, and Haystack to support connected device ecosystems and data-driven operations.
  • Demonstrated success managing design consultants and vendors, reviewing technical submittals, and leading multidisciplinary coordination efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the end-to-end delivery of automation, controls, and smart building systems, serving as the single point of accountability for project success.
  • Serving as the primary technical authority for automation system design, integration, and implementation across all project phases, collaborating closely with project teams.
  • Driving the development of a unified Integrated Building Management System (IBMS) that bridges building infrastructure with highly automated laboratory systems.
  • Advancing the integration of Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS), utilities controls, lighting, environmental monitoring, IoT sensors, occupancy sensing, and PLC systems to enable fully connected, smart, and data-driven operations.
  • Acting as a key liaison between MEP engineers, IT and Cybersecurity teams, scientists, automation engineers, and external vendors to ensure systems align with research and operational goals.
  • Partnering with site functions such as Site Services and Site Operations to coordinate project execution, vendor management, and design approvals.
  • Ensuring all automation and smart building designs comply with regulations, internal standards, sustainability goals, and digital transformation strategies.
