The Mechanical Integration Engineer will have a critical understanding of manufacturing processes for thermal components and solid comprehension of thermal design and analysis to lead and oversee the mechanical systems essential for Data Center Infrastructure functionality. This role will involve developing specifications, selecting key components, component placement, selecting fastening methods, and transitioning design to manufacturing. Additionally, the position includes leading test process implementation and equipment selection to maintain the highest standards of operational excellence and reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in mechanical system integration.
  • Proven track record of successful system designs and implementations in a relevant industry.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, integration strategy, and system coordination.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to Data Center Infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Have a strong background in liquid cooling technology used in data center design and buildout.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on all matters related to single phase and two-phase liquid cooling applications within hyperscale data centers.
  • Have expertise in both enclosed and facility-based cooling systems.
  • Have experience with current Cooling Distribution Unit (CDU) technologies.
  • Ability to detail operational expectations for LC Racks, Manifolds and other LC infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with testing concepts for leaks/mitigation and hydrostatic pressure validation.
  • Knowledgeable on High-Density Liquid Cooling (HDLC) products utilized in global data center applications.
  • In depth knowledge of rack manifold manufacturing, design and function.
  • Review CAD/Technical Data Packages to determine and validate mechanical design requirements.
  • Responsible for understanding product specifications, plumbing, and hydronic systems.
  • Ability to evaluate thermal data collected from engineering or manufacturing tests.
  • Knowledgeable in fabrication practices and installation of copper, stainless steel and aluminum piping.
  • Understanding and conducting stress and flow analysis to ensure that the piping systems can withstand operational conditions.
  • Collaborate with project managers on design quotations.
  • Provide technical input to identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Conduct component selection for pipes, fittings, and valves based on various factors.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and ensure system compatibility and integration.
  • Ability to prepare technical specifications for piping components and systems.
  • Utilize CAD tools, CAE tools, and equipment for engineering tasks.
  • Evaluate/optimize manufacturing assembly processes.
  • Adept at creating detailed mechanical design of components, sub-assemblies, and system integration.
  • Capable of creating a Bill of Materials (BOM) for release to manufacturing.
  • Perform tests, debug, and validation of mechanical systems.
  • Manage relationships with mechanical component vendors and contract manufacturers.
  • Keep updated with the latest technologies and methods to ensure competitive and cost-effective designs.
  • Work with your manager to propose potential R&D project ideas.
  • Discuss with management and production staff to assess engineering feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
