About The Position

The Test Equipment Engineering (TEE) Directorate at Raytheon Missile Defense (RMD) is a multi-discipline organization responsible for developing test solutions for all Raytheon Missile Defense (RMD) products. TEE designs with the latest technology and tools, integrating state-of-the-art test solutions with advanced engineering systems. TEE products are used in engineering labs, in the field, and in production environments for weapon system product verification, qualification, test data analysis, and production test solution development. TEE offers job opportunities across all phases of the engineering lifecycle, including demonstrations, early engineering tests, design verification tests, production, and sustainment. This role is for a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer responsible for designing, developing, documenting, and maintaining complex test environment systems for all Raytheon effector products.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or An advanced degree in a related field and a minimum of seven (7) years experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of technical / engineering experience in mechanical design and/or production support.
  • Minimum seven (7) years experience with CAD solid modeling tools and analysis tools with an emphasis on ProE / CREO Parametric.
  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerance analysis.
  • Experience creating mechanical drawing packages.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Design experience with mechanical and electronic packaging.
  • Experience with Configuration Management processes, application, and tools (e.g., Windchill / cPDM).
  • Experience in Model Based Engineering or Model Based Design.
  • Experience in mechanical sub-systems packaging, materials, thermal analysis, structural analysis, control systems, electrical hardware design, or large assembly development.
  • Experience with environmental stress screening of hardware (e.g., vibration, shock, thermal, etc.).
  • Systems engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.
  • Experience in proposal development and the first four gates within the Integrated Product Development System (IPDS).
  • Experience with providing guidance and assistance to less experienced professionals and/or support employees.

Responsibilities

  • Research, plan, design and develop mechanical test systems in areas including, but not limited to, vibration, thermal, hydraulic, radio frequency, and electro-optical for production testing environments.
  • Integrate and validate test systems against stringent accuracy and reliability requirements.
  • Evaluate production installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions.
