Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is seeking a Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer on the Command and Launch Infrastructure Integration team. This position is in our Strategic Deterrent Systems Division to execute the Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase of the Sentinel Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. This position will be located on campus in Roy, UT and may require on-site support at product manufacturing and integration sites.

  • Create and implement deployable mechanical mechanisms that are verified through test/analysis
  • Develop CAD models visualizing various design solutions
  • Implement program processes and engineering board approval processes for developed PDPs
  • Deliver required PDPs on time to meet program objectives
  • Integrate Infrastructure Integration PDPs with the various element teams to proactively eliminate disconnects and design clashes
  • Identify gaps within a design and/or requirements and provide a resolution that is cost effective, innovative, and has minimal impact to others
  • Ensure the developed PDPs meet the design requirements from the various element/configured item specifications
  • Support digital transformation initiatives relating to PDP development and release
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with 8 years of experience; or Master's degree with 6 years of experience
  • An active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
  • Experience with design/fabrication techniques for structural details, assemblies, and/or installations
  • 3+ year of experience with 3-D modeling tools
  • 1+ year of experience using product lifecycle management (PLM) tools
  • ICBM Experience
  • Experience in creating a Product Definition Package (PDP) or PDP like products
  • Experience with the ASME Y14.X suite of engineering drawing standards
  • Ability to work closely with multiple functional organizations (Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Field Operations, etc.)
  • Experience with Teamcenter or Teamcenter CPLM Product Lifecycle Management Tool
