As a member of the Northrop Grumman Employee Communications, Content and Channel Strategy team, the Senior Principal Employee Communications Representative will help drive the innovation, development, and execution of Northrop Grumman's employee engagement strategy, working across Centers of Practice (CoPs) and business sectors to execute a broad scale rollout across Northrop Grumman's diverse employee population across all 50 states and internationally. This position is based in one of the following locations: Falls Church, VA, Linthicum, MD, San Diego, CA or Redondo Beach, CA. This is not a remote position. A key focus for Northrop Grumman is to build an industry-leading capabilities ecosystem that enables the most impactful employee communications. It will require an interconnected content ecosystem, thoughtful content and channel strategy and purposeful storytelling to reach the right employee audiences at the right time. This role plays a critical part in standing up our internal storytelling engine and has an opportunity to help shape and develop our internal editorial strategy, driving the future of employee engagement and culture. You will work closely with various teams to drive the evolution of our end-to-end enterprise content capabilities.

  • Serve as the deputy editor of our internal storytelling engine, playing a lead role in reimagining storytelling across the Employee Communications organization and leading the development and production of employee-focused storytelling packages.
  • Lead the editing and distribution of all employee messaging, including messages and related materials for senior leadership.
  • Act as a senior editor and weigh in on the various pieces of content our team creates on a weekly basis, sharing best practices and editorial guidance.
  • Oversee the change management implementation of new tools and serve as the lead for existing tools with a focus on streamlining workflows, creating standards and guidance, improving collaboration, tracking engagement and ensuring messages are reaching the target audience.
  • Sit on our internal editorial boards and provide strategic counsel and insight when it comes to engaging employees.
  • Support the Content and Channel Strategy manager in overseeing the enterprise employee communications channels, including the intranet, digital signage and rotators ensuring content is distributed across channels at the right time, targeting the right audiences and ensuring all content aligns with Northrop Grumman's brand voice and messaging guidelines.
  • Lead the implementation of enterprise content oversight and governance guidance, for digital tools and resources related to Employee Communications.
  • Manage the enterprise internal communications calendar and provide a point of view on wide-ranging content and channel strategy for major programs/initiatives that drive key elements of Northrop Grumman's strategy.
  • Serve as a key contributor to the Employee Communications Earnings Day workstream efforts.
  • Contribute to the employee communication Earnings strategy, lead efforts to develop collateral, distribute and post key messages across all internal channels and seek new and innovative ways to engage employees during the Earnings season.
  • Support enterprise operational efficiency and effectiveness initiatives like process and message alignment aligned to your statement of work to consolidate efforts.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders; serve on cross functional teams that include leadership and other Communications function colleagues across the enterprise.
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university with 8 years of experience successfully developing and deploying communications practices OR Master's degree from accredited university with 6 years of experience successfully developing and deploying communications practices.
  • Experience in employee or executive communications.
  • Experience producing or creating omni-channel editorial content for a newspaper, magazine or brand or working in a journalism environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong judgement, problem solving and organizational skills, and superb attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Identify as a Type A creative or storyteller.
  • Experience with Associated Press Style.
  • Familiarity with website content management systems, including SharePoint, the Adobe Suite of products, etc.
