Your Role at Baxter This is where your work saves lives As a Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer in the New Prodcut Development organization, you will be responsible for developing innovative healthcare solutions and support the development within Hospital Bed Platforms to meet customer needs and regulatory standards. As a Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer, you will be working on circuit board design, sensors, motors, displays, and cables for new products within the Patient Support System Portfolio.

Requirements

  • BSEE Degree
  • 10 years of engineering experience working on circuit board design
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficient problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and applicable Engineering Software
  • Design of circuit boards with embedded processors (ARM is preferred)
  • Experience working with Altium or Mentor Graphics to develop schematics and layouts.
  • Experience in electrical simulation and design analysis (Multisim is preferred)
  • Experience with digital design and basic software development for testing hardware designs.
  • Experience with documenting designs and analysis including hardware requirements, hardware detailed design, DFMEA, Risk Analysis, and testing requirements.
  • Experience designing communication interfaces between circuit boards including CAN, USB, SPI, I2C, LVDS, and display boards.
  • Experience interfacing both analog and digital sensors to embedded processors including air pressure, temperature, load cells, current measurement, and others.
  • Experience designing DC to DC switching power supplies.
  • Experience with designing for radiated emissions, ESD, cost, reliability, and DFM
  • Knowledge of wireless communications including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and UWB.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the medical device industry and FDA Regulations is preferred

Responsibilities

  • As part of an R&D project team, the Electrical Engineer owns the design of a complete module, circuit board, or sub-assembly, from conception to production.
  • He / She works as part of a team and ensures that the project progresses in the defined manner.
  • Willingness to mentor junior engineers, give guidance on technical issues, engage in design reviews, and help resolve complex problems.
  • This position will design circuit boards that run motors, control touch screen displays, monitor patient weight, heart rate, and respiratory rate, and control blowers for air mattresses.
  • You will be involved in every part of the process, from working with Hospitals to understanding user needs, developing requirements, setting schedules, designing circuit boards, testing your designs, supporting circuit board manufacturing, supporting product assembly procedures and test systems, and supporting the initial deliveries to customers.
