Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr Principal Design Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT or Colorado Springs, CO and supports the Sentinel program.

  • Candidate will be a subject matter expert in Common Product Lifecycle Management (Teamcenter) to resolve user issues.
  • Triage and prioritize impact of user issues.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve user issues when possible.
  • Elevate user issues when needed.
  • Follow user support workflow.
  • Learn program and division Principle & Operating Practices to identify correct PLM usage.
  • Work closely with program user community.
  • Act as a liaison across multiple engineering disciplines across multiple programs.
  • Identify potential gap in processes.
  • Identify repeat and common user issues for training opportunities.
  • Perform tool testing.
  • Assist with creating and maintaining product documentation in the form of job aids.
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of experience, or 6 years of experience with a Master's degree; 4 years of experience with PHD.
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
  • Experience performing CAD modeling with design tools such as Siemens NX or similar.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of tools - Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word.
  • Experience working in with geographically distributed teams.
  • Experience with a ticketing workflow systems (Service Now).
  • Experience with Siemens Capital & Xpedition.
  • Experience with CAE analysis tools.
  • Experience with configuration management.
  • Knowledge of System Engineering principles and requirements management.
  • Experience in defense system/subsystem product design.
  • Experience with Systems Engineering tools (CAMEO/DOORS) and architecture.
  • Proficient with 3D design/2D drawing CAD in NX.
  • Proficient with PDM and/or CPLM.
  • Proficient with GD&T and ASME Y14.5-2009.
  • Experience working with specialty engineering stakeholders (PM&P, Safety, Human Factors, others).
  • Experience leading a team of engineers or project(s).
  • Hands on experience in equipment maintenance, fabrication, assembly, and measuring tools.
  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written; and ability to read and understand technical requirements documents.
