As a Sr. Principal Data Scientist - Digital Health supporting Data Science-Digital Health Team , you will be trusted to lead an AI Center of Excellence (CoE) and drive platform scalability, reusability, and innovation across business units. In this role, you will design and deliver AI/Gen AI platforms, products, and services that enable digital product development and inform critical business decisions. You will work in an agile environment, partnering with product managers, data engineers, and business stakeholders. We are a fast-growing team, which will give you the opportunity to shape our ways of working and culture - think start-up, but inside a global leader in eye care. We are looking for someone who is a strategic thinker and problem solver. This will be at our Fort Worth, TX office. In this role, a typical day will include:

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school+15 yrs., Assoc.+11 yrs.; M.S.+4 yrs.; PhD+3 yrs.)
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
• 7 Years of Relevant Experience

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge/experience in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field).
• Experience developing advanced analytics and ML models to solve complex business challenges.
• Deep expertise in AI/ML methods, including theory, mathematics, and practical application.
• Hands-on experience with GenAI application development (e.g., chatbots, AI agents) using structured and unstructured data.
• Experience in MLOps and AI/GenAI Ops, including end-to-end development, deployment, and operationalization of AI solutions.
• Proven experience designing and implementing cloud-based analytics solutions (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and solution architecture for AI/ML products.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and familiarity with BI/dashboarding tools (e.g., Tableau, React).
• Experience in healthcare and related data analytics use cases
• Experience in building and launching large scale AI-based software products.

Responsibilities

• Lead the AI Center of Excellence (CoE) to drive platform capabilities, scalability, and reusability across business units.
• Architect and operationalize modular, reusable AI/ML and GenAI products on Alcon’s digital health data platform.
• Provide solution architecture guidance for AI/GenAI initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and seamless integration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data engineering, product, and business stakeholders) to define requirements, design solutions, and deliver analytics use cases.
• Drive AI/GenAI operationalization and MLOps practices, enabling secure, scalable, and efficient deployment of AI solutions.
• Stay ahead of AI/ML and GenAI innovations, continuously improving platform capabilities and advocating for data-driven decision-making.
• Mentor and coach junior data scientists and analysts, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and engineering excellence.
