The Strategic Non‑Kinetic Effects Mission Center is seeking an Applied Cybersecurity Engineer with deep, cross-disciplinary expertise in networking, intelligence, and cybersecurity to design and deliver mission-critical solutions to the nation’s most complex challenges.

Requirements

  • Requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 10 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 7 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Active TS/SCI with polygraph clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to work with others to solve challenging technical problems.
  • Ability to think critically, work in group settings, and be proactive in pursuing research and problem solving.
  • Experience with analyzing raw threat intelligence from one or more collection disciplines (ex. SIGINT, HUMINT, GEOINT, etc.) in support of operations and/or analysis.
  • Deep understanding of computer networks and the OSI model, spanning hardware, software, and networking components, including how data flows and is secured across all layers.
  • Familiarity with intelligence community organizational and governance structures, policy generation processes, life cycle acquisition processes, and/or requirements processes.
  • Experience with intelligence community analytic and requirements tools.
  • Experience with digital network exploitation analysis.
  • Experience with analysis of code to identify the purpose and function of software.
  • Familiarity with radio frequency communication technologies and related enabling hardware and software.
  • Requires current, expert-level knowledge of C4 architectures relevant to adversary analysis.
  • This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.

Nice To Haves

  • Intelligence community acquisition, planning, programming, budgeting and execution experience.
  • Familiarity with the intent, capability and operations of top tier nation-station adversary threat groups targeting operational technology in critical infrastructure, space, or weapon systems.
  • As part of MITRE’s Push to the Pacific initiative, employees hired to this requisition will be on the Hawaii Rotational Incentive program, implemented to attract talent for select positions with high demand and difficult to fill skill sets. As part of the Hawaii Rotation Program, the candidate selected for this position will receive an annual incentive as a lump sum payment, less tax withholding, and other applicable deductions 3 years with the possibility of extension for up to two additional years (maximum of five years total), subject to business needs and management approval

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate existing methodologies and develop recommendations for improved processes, tools, analytics, and infrastructure;
  • Identify and leverage capabilities from across MITRE that enable the Sponsor to measurably increase mission impact;
  • Support intelligence collection operations by partnering closely with Sponsor leaders to apply human and technological capabilities that enable successful operational/mission outcomes;
  • Convey technical, analytic, and organizational findings, recommendations, and approaches to senior decision makers and mission partners.
