About The Position

Mercury Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to play a crucial role in the development, integration, verification and maintenance of complex systems and technologies used in defense and aerospace applications. This position requires optical experience. You’ll be working in a matrix organization as part of a multi-disciplined engineering team while collaborating with Line of Business Chief Engineers, systems engineering, program management, business development, operations, supply chain, and executive leadership to meet customer needs.

Requirements

  • Typically requires 10+ years of Systems Engineering experience spanning capture, design, integration, verification, and validation of optical systems and with at least one of the following:            -high-performance embedded processing systems.            -server systems, and/or            - RF/EW systems
  • Experience in System Engineering activities such as business development support, customer engagement, operational concept development, functional/physical architecture definition, requirements development, trade study execution, interface definition, technical baseline management, and transition to production
  • Experience and understanding of the complete program lifecycle
  • Experience leading engineering teams
  • Experience working with Business Development in providing technical leadership, developing bids for capture, and writing technical/management volumes
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience providing leadership and mentoring

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree higher in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline
  • Understanding and experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience with Cameo Enterprise Architect and SysML modeling (or equivalent)
  • Experience with Jama, Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket
  • Familiarity with FPGA/CPLD or CPU/MCU processing systems
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and earned value management
  • Ability to work multi-disciplined engineering problems and foster collaboration across inter-Business Unit/Line of Business boundaries
  • Ability to travel, up to 25% of the time

Responsibilities

  • Optical design of Displays and Network products
  • Optical testing of Engineering units to verify functional requirements/risk reduction testing (including uniformity testing).
  • Optical Design Verification Testing (ODVT) for Displays and Network products at Gulf Breeze, FL facility
  • Writing ODVT procedures and reports
  • Troubleshooting activities for displays products that are optical in natures (night vision failures, ‘glow’/cell stress visual anomalies, etc)
  • Coordination of activities onsite to provide New Product Introduction (NPI) materials needed to create to have assets ready to support optical testing
  • Managing calibration needs of all onsite optical equipment.
  • Training of Production Test operators on proper usage of optical test equipment in support of acceptance test procedure (ATP) optical testing
  • System engineering support within multiple LOBs
