About The Position

The Sr Plumbing Design Engineer will provide technical guidance to the Engineering Team in the development of standards, projects, and people. This role involves ongoing technical guidance and engineering issue resolution to field teams as needed. The engineer will ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions, while identifying design, process, and equipment options that can satisfy client requirements, minimize costs, and limit potential operational problems. The position also includes teaching others how to interface directly with other disciplines and coordinate with client personnel, contractors, architects, and other project team members to ensure value engineering and the delivery of high-quality projects within the prescribed time frames. Additionally, the engineer will develop and distribute methods for providing solutions for complex engineering problems and identifying the most efficient and acceptable approach to executing a broad range of design activities.

Requirements

  • 4-yr. Bachelor of Science in Engineering Degree
  • Active Professional Engineering License
  • 12+ years practical experience in designing and developing projects from concept to completion
  • Detailed understanding of design and systems within all MEP markets (i.e. New Work, Industrial, and Existing Buildings)
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering and design techniques plus thorough understanding of all MEP engineering disciplines
  • Thorough understanding of Building Codes and Construction Standards
  • Excellent analytical and technical writing skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to efficiently review and critique construction documents
  • Ability to lead design charettes and guide Engineering Team to efficient project development
  • Ability to accurately lead MEP design efforts on large-scale projects independently
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
  • Advanced computer proficiency, including MS Office
  • Ability to foster and develop less-experienced engineers

Nice To Haves

  • LEED-accredited Professional certification strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instruction.
  • Identify design, process and equipment options that can satisfy client requirements, minimize costs and limit potential operational problems.
  • Teach others how to interface directly with other disciplines and coordinate with client personnel, contractors, architects, and other project team members.
  • Develop and distribute methods for providing solutions for complex engineering problems.
  • Provide direction for preparation of on-site field surveys to collect or deliver design and engineering data.
  • Write technical narratives to capture design standards, lessons learned, and constructability input.
  • Provide input for project scheduling and budgeting related to engineering activities.
  • Develop and maintain standards for engineering calculations, drawing presentation and content.
  • Understand and assist with the input and output of accurate project data in Brandt systems.
  • Maintain timely and accurate oral and written technical reports regarding assigned engineering activities.
  • Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.
