The Hypersonic Vehicle Systems team is growing and comprises a cross-disciplinary group of industry veterans and young talent alike. The focus is on the development of hypervelocity vehicles and associated Guidance, Navigation and Control Systems. The team is a tight-knit group of collaboration-oriented professionals that welcome others looking to work on multi-faceted, complex problems as a team. We are hiring a Development Program Planner/Buyer to be responsible for the end-to-end planning and procurement for developmental programs. Unlike a standard production role, this position focuses on one-off or prototype projects, requiring heavy collaboration with engineers to source materials, manage long-lead times, and coordinate with outside processors.

Requirements

  • 3 years in procurement and 1 year in planning within a precision machining or aerospace/defense environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree. Preferably in Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and advanced Excel (preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Strong negotiation, analytical problem-solving, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven prototype environment.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident) due to ITAR compliance

Responsibilities

  • Analyze engineering drawings and Bills of Materials to determine material and tooling requirements for new programs.
  • Develop and maintain integrated project schedules to ensure all milestones are met.
  • Monitor and report on the status of development jobs to Program Managers and customers.
  • Source and purchase specialty components according to project specifications.
  • Manage Outside Processing (OSP) purchase orders, including tracking and expediting parts sent for heat-treat, plating, etc.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms with suppliers to meet strict program budgets and deadlines.
  • Resolve supplier non-conformances and other discrepancies in coordination with Quality and Supplier Development Engineering Team.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems to maintain data integrity for development parts when applicable.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with long-lead items or single-source suppliers.
