About The Position

The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a Sr. Physician Assistant experienced in Emergency Medicine to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health care team. Multiple positions available. Nocturnist preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Certification by the NCCPA or similar national certifying body.
  • Completion of a CAAHEP certified Physician Assistant program.
  • Must be licensed as PA in State of Maryland or other state where practicing.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in related clinical area and obtained proficiency in area of specialty.
  • Current CPR/BLS/ACLS certification.
  • Must maintain current licensure and certification during duration of employment.
  • Completion of the JHH credentialing process is required prior to start date of direct patient care.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years related experience.
  • Residency or fellowship programs in area of specialization may substitute for some experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a comprehensive, accurate history and physical including chief complaint, presenting signs and symptoms, past medical history, and interval history.
  • Recognize abnormal and significant findings and discuss with attending physician as appropriate.
  • Order diagnostics and interpret abnormal findings.
  • Discuss or staff cases with attending physician when appropriate per department standards based on acuity or venue.
  • Initiate Basic/Advanced life support in response to emergency situations.
  • Maintain technical proficiency with approved procedures including suturing, wound care, and orthopedic care.
  • Initiate and prescribe medications.
  • Complete all aspects of medical documentation in accordance with department standards.
  • Arrange consultations and referrals when needed.
  • Attend staff meetings and keep up to date on department protocols, operations, research, and procedures providing input and feedback.
  • Remain proficient in the utilization of commonly used clinical protocols and evidence-based guidelines.
  • Remain abreast of new treatment modalities and technologies within the field of emergency medicine.

  • Starting Salary Range: $102,000 - $152,900 ($125,000 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
