PRIMARY PURPOSE Provides leadership to phlebotomy staff, collects blood specimens from patients and assumes responsibility for processing of specimens, data entry and point of care testing following established standards and practices.

Requirements

• High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or a college degree.
• Two years of phlebotomy experience in both venipuncture and capillary techniques.
• Registration as a Phlebotomy Technician by ASCP preferred.
• Current Heartsaver CPR course completion card within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in both venipuncture and capillary techniques may substitute for education.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and logs.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of personal computers and software.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership to phlebotomy staff.
• Collects blood specimens from patients.
• Assumes responsibility for processing of specimens.
• Handles data entry and point of care testing.
