About The Position

The Sr Pharmacy Technician, under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist, is responsible for assisting in the preparation and distribution of patient medications. This role also involves maintaining inventory and stock medications using pharmacy inventory systems, assisting with daily regulatory paperwork review, and maintaining patient billing records.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED certification)
  • Current Georgia Pharmacy Technician License
  • National Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) status obtained within 1 year of employment (if lapses during employment then employee has 1 year to reinstate)

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate competency in aseptic compounding of sterile IV preparations in compliance with USP 797 and USP 800 guidelines, including TPN, IV drips, and chemotherapy
  • Procure and distribute medication orders per physician or pharmacist requests or pre-arranged work assignments according to established policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Assist with maintaining adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established inventory control levels
  • Support management of automated dispensing machine reporting for quality and regulatory measures
  • Assist with pharmacy workflow by directing phone calls to appropriate staff and delivering patient-specific medications throughout the facility
  • Participate in departmental and hospital quality assurance programs with an emphasis on patient safety and regulatory compliance
  • Assist with regulatory-required monthly unit inspections for all departments that stock medications
  • Contribute to the effective and efficient operation of the department
  • Maintain all functional competencies required for the current job title/position
  • Follow established organizational and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines, including performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control standards
  • Uphold a high level of integrity and honesty while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan
