Requirements

  • High School Grad or Equiv Required
  • One or more years of Work Experience Required
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, problem‐solving, and customer service skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changes as necessary
  • Ability to interact constructively with supervisors, peers, and external customers
  • Ability to follow direction from formal management personnel and work well under direct supervision of a pharmacist
  • Ability to identify, follow up, and resolve discrepancies
  • Ability to keep accurate and complete records
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to teach pharmacy technician students
  • Proficiency in hospital computer system technology and automation
  • Knowledge and competence in aseptic techniques, hazardous drug compounding and USP 795, 797 and 800 standards (if applicable)
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPT-LIC) Required

Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
  • Provision of medication distributive functions and pharmacy operational tasks.
  • Assisting the pharmacist with all duties of preparing and dispensing of medications, inventory management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Performing duties necessary for the effective daily operation of all department services and programs.
  • Accurately responding to medication dispensing requests, preparing medications for pharmacist final review/check, delivering checked medications, and returning unused or expired medications to appropriate pharmacy areas.
  • Preparing and organizing pharmacy medications by name and dosage, as listed on patient orders.
  • Supporting pharmacists and providing distributive pharmacy services to ensure safe and accurate medication services.
  • Leading or contributing to compliance audits, documentation, and medication-use process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborating actively with pharmacy staff, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
  • Mentoring technicians and supporting onboarding, competency validation, and peer development.
  • Executing advanced pharmacy technician duties with autonomy and precision across core workflows.
  • Providing leadership and coverage in at least two core pharmacy practice areas.
  • Independently preparing and dispensing patient-specific medication doses.
  • Leading troubleshooting and optimization of pharmacy automation systems.
  • Independently managing accurate medication inventory operations.
  • Identifying systemic safety risks and contributing to root cause analysis.
  • Leading hazardous medication handling practices.
