POSITION SUMMARY: The Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) for the Free-Standing Emergency Department (FSED) is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning, safety, and compliance of the pharmacy operations. This part-time role requires the PIC to make on-site visits at least once per calendar week, in accordance with Texas State Board of Pharmacy requirements, and oversee the activities of the pharmacy team. Additionally, the PIC will monitor and manage pharmacy functions remotely, performing audits, reviewing reports, and addressing any urgent matters as needed between on-site visits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy required.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience as a pharmacist or Health System Residency completed
  • Active pharmacist license in the state of Texas or willing to attain within agreed time frame.
  • Knowledgeable of and complies with laws, rules and regulations that govern the practice of pharmacy.
  • Pyxis experience preferred with knowledge of Pyxis Reports.
  • Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions, communicate effectively, and work independently.
  • Knowledge of state/federal laws and regulations.
  • Must follow all HIPAA regulations.
  • Leadership, administrative, employee relations and managerial skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and maintaining attention to detail while providing oversight for the practice of pharmacy at an off-site health system.
  • Demonstrates leadership in the practice of pharmacy.
  • Works with supervisory staff to develop and implement ideas for delivering high-quality, cost-effective services.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to effectively participate on interdisciplinary teams and committees.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills while having the ability to work effectively and efficiently in a remote environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) preferred.
  • Preferred 1-3 years of Hospital experience.
  • Pyxis experience preferred with knowledge of Pyxis Reports.
