The Sr. Payments & Operations Specialist is responsible for providing regular oversight of all the operational functions performed by Payments & Operations to decrease errors, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance with all Payments & Operations procedures. The Sr. Specialist is a Subject Matter Expert for all operational functions of the department, backs up the Specialist as needed, and acts as a resolution resource for member and teammate escalations. They will work closely with other departments and the Payments & Operations Leadership team to ensure all department functions operate effectively and efficiently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of three years of relevant back office work experience (i.e. debit card, claim resolution, wires, item processing, ACH, document management operations, and/or bank operations), preferably in a financial institution
  • Must be bondable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of banking Regulations and ACH Rules
  • Reliable internet access of 50MBPS

Nice To Haves

  • One or more of the following certifications: Accredited ACH Professional, Accredited Payments Risk Professional, or National Check Professional
  • Prior experience working with Hyland OnBase, Fiserv DNA, FedLine

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Payment and Operations Manager with overseeing day-to-day operations and workload of the Payment & Operations Specialists to ensure processing timeframes, adherence to Regulations, and member needs are met
  • Performs IRS Correspondence and Legal document processing
  • Ensures all deposit and loan charge-offs are processed in accordance with our policy
  • Reconciles applicable General Ledger accounts associated with day-to-day processing and assist with identifying reconciliation outages
  • Performs monthly tracking for operational processes
  • Acts as a resource for Payments & Operations teammates; provides recommendation/insight for various processes and provides exceptional member service by responding to inquiries in a timely manner
  • Investigates and resolves member issues with little or no assistance, including all escalated member service issues
  • Assists in Disaster Recovery and all system upgrades to include testing and updating of department procedures
  • Upholds credit union policies and procedures and champions organizational culture both internally and externally
