About The Position

Your Impact The Lowe’s Law Department is seeking an enthusiastic and organized senior paralegal to support our Intellectual Property and Commercial Litigation team across patents, IP litigation, trademarks, domain management, and brand protection as well as commercial litigation. This role will provide paralegal support for attorneys on the team with preparation of internal and external reports and documents, and maintenance of an electronic matter-management system. The successful candidate must be highly organized and have the ability to prioritize a high-volume workload. In addition, the candidate should be detail oriented with a demonstrated ability to perform work independently and through collaboration. What you will do Specific additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Support IP claims and litigation, including claim intake, investigation, coordinating litigation holds, discovery, and settlements. Substantial experience using patent and trademark docketing and annuity payment systems is required, with Dennemeyer experience being a plus. Experience navigating repositories of technical documentation (e.g., Confluence, Jira, Figma) and gathering information relevant to technology-related litigation (e.g., disputes over technology contracts, development agreements, copyrights in software, or patents) Familiarity with technical terminology describing various aspects of e-commerce-related technology Conduct an initial case assessment to identify and obtain relevant documents; Coordinate, schedule and, where directed, interview custodians and witnesses to verify facts and identify relevant documents; Draft a chronology of relevant facts, documents, witnesses and events to assist assigned counsel; Gather, review, and organize relevant information for discovery and/or early case assessment and review; Prepare initial draft discovery responses to include identification of relevant documents, gathering of documents, and preparation of written responses; Act as a liaison between outside counsel, in-house counsel and internal business clients to manage the collection of documents and data, coordinate the delivery to outside counsel or agency, and conduct follow up as needed; Assist in the preparation of presentations and briefings to internal business clients; Support attorneys with related projects by conducting research, gathering key documents, and organizing files; Compile information and prepare various internal reports which may include forecasts, project updates, legal invoices, accounting and information from various other databases; and Experience as a paralegal in a patent litigation practice is a plus.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma with 6 years' experience working in a corporate legal department or law firm OR Associate's Degree with 4 years' experience working in a corporate legal department or law firm OR Bachelor's Degree with experience working in a corporate legal department or law firm
  • Additional work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Substantial experience using patent and trademark docketing and annuity payment systems is required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a paralegal in a patent litigation practice is a plus.
  • Dennemeyer experience being a plus.
  • Experience navigating repositories of technical documentation (e.g., Confluence, Jira, Figma) and gathering information relevant to technology-related litigation (e.g., disputes over technology contracts, development agreements, copyrights in software, or patents)

  • 3 years' experience drafting legal documents
  • Paralegal certificate or State-designated paralegal certification
  • Experience working in a corporate law department
  • Retail Experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in drafting presentations using PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated experience in an industry recognized eDiscovery platform
  • Certified E-Discovery Specialist (CEDS) Certification
