Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Packaging Engineer to join our Packaging team in developing world-class designs for use in high volume automation equipment. In this role, you will play a key part in driving the technical execution of packaging projects across several Vehicle and Energy Product platforms. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with all facets of Tesla development, from technology and design through component delivery and final manufacturing. The successful candidate must possess the ability to work quickly and efficiently with a high level of precision, demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be detail-oriented while being unafraid to redefine traditional approaches. As a Sr. Packaging Engineer, you will lead end-to-end engineered packaging projects for Tesla's Vehicle and Energy platforms. You will interface with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, New Product Introduction, and Operations partners to gather and develop packaging requirements. Additionally, you will partner with Supply Chain and Logistics to drive projects that enable the most efficient delivery of parts possible without sacrificing part quality or manufacturability. Your responsibilities will also include providing design direction and development plans for protective packaging containers, dunnage, and unique shipping racks for both domestic and international needs. You will monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and work with Packaging Design Engineers to develop world-class packaging standards and continuously improve upon them. Furthermore, you will drive projects from expendable to returnable packaging and participate in sustainability initiatives while assisting in vendor selection and management.
