A role in Construction means leading the execution of store and distribution center projects. From large program rollouts to unique special projects, or large ground-up construction, you'll help manage the scope, schedule, and budget for all Target construction projects, including adhering to the project timeline, coordinating and overseeing the onsite construction process and turnover.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in Construction Management/Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of on-site construction management experience.
  • Expert ability to interpret engineering documents, evaluate construction estimates, and prepare required construction reports, schedules, and other documents.
  • Excellent conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor others.
  • Ability to implement new processes for improved productivity for field personnel.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of construction-based project management software and smartphone/tablet applications (Plangrid, Procore, Trello, Slack, Kanban), Smartsheet.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Target Construction Project Manager with Guaranteed Maximum Review (Gmax).
  • Ensure contractors receive all construction materials, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Inspect for damage and reconcile quantities received with purchase orders.
  • Submit reports to Target Headquarters as required.
  • Assist in the resolution of contractual disputes.
  • Oversee contractors, vendors, and installers to ensure work is accurate, complete, and in compliance with plans.
  • Inspect the General Contractor Quality Control programs.
  • Participate in the development and management of schedules.
  • Manage site work and/or building construction and installation activities for projects.
  • Facilitate open communications with Target Properties and Store Operation teams.
  • Implement strategies for best methods to ensure consistency.
  • Manage change and promptly resolve communication conflicts, delays, and/or performance problems.
  • Provide feedback to applicable partners and propose changes to enhance the program.
  • Orient each store management and Property Management team to their new building.
  • Deliver the Construction Turnover Package to Store Operations and Building Services partners upon completion.
  • Mentor new OSRs and troubleshoot on problem jobs as assigned by the Director, Field Construction.
