About The Position

Be part of an exciting journey as we build our new facility in the Western New York Science & Technology Advanced Manufacturing Park in Alabama, NY. This role offers a unique hybrid opportunity, blending remote work flexibility with on-site presence during the facility's construction phase. The Sr. Operational Buyer manages all aspects of operational purchasing for US dry pump manufacturing and maintains continuity of supply to maximize service levels. Continuously improve processes used to plan/buy inbound material to reduce total costs and non-value-added activity.

Requirements

  • Graduate level qualifications in engineering, supply chain, business or manufacturing fields
  • Purchasing management or Senior Buyer experience gained within a manufacturing environment
  • 5-7 years of experience within a dynamic lean manufacturing environment and experience of working with suppliers of engineering products and services
  • Operational/engineering management experience and knowledge of wide variety of manufacturing technologies and processes such as machining, electrical/electronics, casting, fabrication, motors/drives, seals, bearings, injection moulding
  • Fluent written and verbal well-developed English communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using ERP systems, SAP preferred
  • Well-developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Wide utilization of MS Office Excel, Word and Outlook and PowerBI would be an advantage

Responsibilities

  • Support strategic sourcing/commodity management team with vendor creation and maintenance
  • Create and maintain purchasing material master data in collaboration with strategic sourcing/commodity management and planning
  • Issue and manage purchase orders (intercompany and externally) through their life cycle based on system requirements and/or manual request
  • Open order follow-up and expediting as necessary
  • Collaborate with supply chain and production teams to adjust material forecasts as required
  • Regularly communicate forecast variations to assigned supplier base
  • Develop and cultivate positive relationships with assigned supplier base
  • Use root-cause analysis to drive continuous improvement activities across 4 key performance indicators: quality, on-time delivery, cost, and net working capital
  • Effective communication with internal and external key stakeholders
  • Organize regular supplier business reviews in collaboration with strategic sourcing/commodity management (Supplier Scorecard Reviews)
  • Full compliance with all Company safety and ethics requirements
