About the position

The 'Machine Operator and Material Handler' role integrates the operation of industrial machinery with the management and movement of materials within a warehouse or production facility. This includes loading and unloading trucks, storing inventory, and ensuring the smooth flow of materials to production lines. Proficiency in operating material handling equipment like forklifts and maintaining accurate inventory records while adhering to safety protocols is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload materials from trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment.
  • Transport materials to designated storage areas within the warehouse.
  • Pick and pack orders according to customer specifications.
  • Verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing materials, including quantity and quality checks.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through cycle counting and data entry.
  • Set up, operate, and monitor machinery according to production standards and quality specifications.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance, reporting any issues to maintenance personnel.
  • Adjust machine settings to maintain product quality and efficiency.
  • Monitor production output and identify potential quality issues.
  • Follow all safety procedures related to machine operation and material handling.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Report any safety concerns or hazards immediately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of machine operation and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to operate and maneuver forklifts safely.
  • Experience with inventory control systems and procedures.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform repetitive movements.
  • High level of accuracy in identifying and handling materials.
  • Proficiency in data entry and inventory management systems.
  • NCIC/MRPT background check (required).
  • Relevant completed vocational / professional training of at least 3 years, or relevant completed vocational / professional training of 2 years and longer additional subject-specific experience.

  • Preferably working experience in a manufacturing environment.
