The Sr NPD Project Engineer will support product realization through cross-functional team collaboration. Responsible for managing portions of the new product design process. As a Sr. NPD Project Engineer you will be responsible for leading portions of the design process, completing assigned tasks, assisting other members of the team, and helping to ensure project completion in accordance with the schedule. You will develop schedules, coordinate and manage low complexity projects with little to no supervision, prepare budgets, and define resource needs for projects or parts of projects in your area of responsibility. You will assist with the completion of the Product Realization Stage Gate Requirements and ensure that projects meet specifications and standards while promoting error-proof assembly. Additionally, you will create project test plans, construct and test prototype components, review test data, perform engineering analysis, and provide engineering support to Sales/Marketing and Manufacturing.

  • Lead portions of the design process and complete assigned tasks.
  • Develop schedules and manage low complexity projects with little to no supervision.
  • Prepare budgets and define resource needs for projects.
  • Assist with completion of the Product Realization Stage Gate Requirements.
  • Ensure that projects meet specifications and standards.
  • Create project test plans and complete inside and outside test programs.
  • Construct and test prototype components or assemblies.
  • Review test data and ensure testing meets requirements.
  • Perform engineering analysis in design of new products and subcomponents.
  • Conduct formal root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Prepare written documentation of processes, material requirements, and project activity.
  • Interface with purchasing and vendors for component selection.
  • Provide engineering support to Sales/Marketing and Manufacturing.
  • Consult with customer representatives on product requirements.
  • Direct supporting personnel such as Engineers, Designers, and Technicians.
  • Follow procedures for creation and maintenance of CAD databases.
  • Participate in the review of engineering drawings prior to release.
  • Ensure selected parts and processes meet project goals for cost efficiency and reliability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years progressive experience in Engineering design and/or development.
  • Experience working on highly technical and innovative projects.
  • Proficiency in 3D parametric modeling.
  • Experience with finite element modeling and design feasibility checks.
  • Strong technical knowledge in mechanism design, linkages, springs, statics, dynamics, and material properties.
  • Familiarity with various manufacturing methods.
  • Familiarity with new product development Stage Gate Process.
  • Ability to write technical documents.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical standards.
  • Effective communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with DFMEA and DOE.
  • Experience with GD&T and tolerance stack up analysis.
  • Ability to use small hand and power tools.
  • ProE/Creo and Finite Element analysis experience.
  • History of creativity, innovation, and initiative.
  • Experience in medium/high voltage electrical power systems.
  • Experience with trip free, stored energy or actuated mechanism design.
