The primary role of the Senior Network Engineer is to design, configure, test and implement network hardware and technology integrations, both wired and wireless and supporting technology solutions to meet/exceed the business/network and IT RASS (Reliability, Availability, Scalability and Security) requirements. This involves evaluating user requirements and recommending network system designs based on cost-benefit analysis and available tools. Operational duties include troubleshooting technical problems through collaboration with team members and vendors, implementing processes, and responding to requests for network infrastructure access. The role also involves translating business requirements into network or process designs, planning and recommending platforms, systems management software, and next-generation network capabilities. The engineer evaluates and recommends new products, stays updated on emerging technologies, monitors network utilization/performance, ensures capacity planning, and proactively makes recommendations for improvement. They perform troubleshooting procedures, design resolution scripts, and may serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for enterprise-wide assignments, communicating technology value to management in business terms.
