This position is for a Network Administrator within the Network Services organization supporting Kaiser Permanente's F5 Load Balancing infrastructure. Kaiser Permanente operates within an ITIL framework. This position will directly support aspects within the F5 Load Balancer Network Operations. Shift flexibility required and will include working nights, weekends, and holidays. Potential candidates submitting for this position must show the ability to think both critically, creatively, independently, cooperatively, be flexible and agile. Potential candidates must show strong technical engineering, operations skills, strong customer focus, excellent analytical problem solving, oral, telephone, written, and presentation communication skills. In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this position is responsible for a deep understanding of one or more networking technologies (Data Center networking, LAN, WAN, Voice, Wireless, TCP/IP protocols and services). Some of the unique challenges this position will face include working on a large scale network, across 1,000 sites with multiple data centers requiring 5 9s availability.

  • Verifies system designs adhere to company architecture standards.
  • Drives physical architecture design for new initiatives.
  • Leads the implementation of assigned enterprise infrastructure systems.
  • Minimum four (4) years experience in network infrastructure planning, design, and implementation.
  • Minimum one (1) year in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field.
  • Minimum six (6) years experience in an IT operations environment with technical experience in distributed technologies, systems development, and/or networking.
  • Additional equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • 5 years related Network Engineering and/or Operations experience (or similar IT experience).
  • Strong experience with deploying, operating DNS, DHCP, IP Address Management (DDI) protocols and Infrastructures.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking including switching, routing, WLAN, common protocols, and services.
  • 5 years minimum experience supporting F5 Load Balancing environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of F5 BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM).
  • Detailed knowledge of F5 BIG-IP DNS formerly known as Global Traffic Manager (GTM).
  • Strong understanding of Linux/Unix Operating systems.
  • Strong understanding with Unix shell scripting and Python.
