About The Position

The Senior Mobile Repair Specialist provides expert repair services for Simms waders and technical apparel directly to anglers, retailers, and fishing communities across the Northern Rockies. Operating from a fully equipped mobile repair vehicle, this role travels extensively throughout Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho, delivering on-site repairs, supporting fly shop events, and reinforcing Simms’ commitment to product durability and customer service. Serving as both a technical repair expert and brand ambassador, the Sr. Mobile Repair Specialist represents Simms in the field by helping anglers extend the life of their gear while strengthening relationships with retailers and local fishing communities. This position reports to the Repair Tour Manager. While the role is based out of the Bozeman Innovation Center Office, it does require extensive travel. As the Sr. Mobile Repair Specialist, you will have an opportunity to Mobile Repair Tour Operations & Crew Oversight Travel full-time throughout Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho from May through October 2026. Lead daily operations of the mobile repair van, ensuring efficient workflows, high-quality repairs, and a well-organized workspace. Oversee, schedule, and support the daily work of the two mobile repair crew, providing clear direction and prioritization of tasks. Foster a positive, team-focused environment that reflects Simms’ customer-first values while working in remote and fast-paced field conditions. Product Repair & Technical Service Train new and existing crew members on repair techniques, safety practices, equipment use, and Simms’ standards for craftsmanship. Monitor crew performance, provide on-the-job coaching, and assist with skill development to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery. Diagnose and repair Simms waders and waterproof technical apparel. Perform field repairs including leak detection, seam sealing, fabric patching, gravel guard repair, and zipper troubleshooting. Maintain repair tools, materials, and supplies within the mobile repair vehicle. Ensure repairs meet Simms’ standards for durability and craftsmanship. Fly Shop Engagement & Event Support Engage directly with fly shop partners and retailers to provide repair services and strengthen relationships. Support in-store repair days, community fishing events, and retail activations. Serve as a knowledgeable Simms resource for retail staff and customers. Educate anglers on proper gear care, repair options, and product longevity. Repair Tracking & Reporting Log all repairs within the Simms Repair Case Program to maintain accurate service records. Track product models and repair types performed during tour stops. Complete weekly counts and summaries of products repaired. Provide regular activity updates and insights to the Tour Manager.

Requirements

  • 4 years of experience in a production or repair environment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on repair skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a mobile, travel-heavy environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer engagement skills.
  • Experience repairing waders, waterproof apparel, or outdoor technical gear.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
  • Perform repetitive tasks with manual dexterity
  • Lift up to 50 lbs
  • Work conducted both inside the repair vehicle and outdoors
  • Evening and weekend work may be required during events
  • Camping and car camping will be required during portions of the tour

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing, sewing, or assembly experience is a plus, but not required
  • Passion for fly fishing or outdoor recreation preferred.
  • Experience working with outdoor retailers or events preferred.
