The Sr Mgr External Relations supports the Director of External Relations developing and executing strategic communications campaigns and company initiatives and in advising and counseling executive leaders within the applicable company with respect to communications issues, strategies and tactics. Oversee staff of site communicators in execution of external communications and outreach to support all aspects of the company’s operation. Manage assigned communications projects and monitor issues within the respective region. Assist Director of Communications to ensure that communications plans and processes reinforce workforce understanding and compliance with company policies and public understanding of the company’s operations. Assign and manage communications resources as required in support of the Director of External Communications. Represent and back up the Director of External Communications in their absence. Additional duties include reviewing employee performance; assigning, critiquing and editing communication materials; coaching and feedback; motivating and setting direction; providing oversight; and integrating communications at the site.

Requirements

  • 4-year relevant degree and a minimum of 10 or more years of experience in communications, journalism, or a related field.
  • Principal or leadership management experience.
  • Advanced media relations, writing and editing skills.
  • In lieu of degree, 12-15 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and management skills.
  • A high level of self-motivation and independence will be critical.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinking ability; self-motivation; organizational sensitivity.
  • Excellent follow through capability; demands high level of performance from self and others.
  • Demonstrated managerial experience.
  • Ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear site, as applicable.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience.

  • Master’s degree in communications, journalism or related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and execute strategic and external communications plans, including advanced media relations, coordination with stakeholders, and leading priority initiatives.
  • Assist Director of External Communications in advising and counseling executives on internal and external communications issues and activities
  • Fulfill managerial responsibilities of external relations staff and participate as key manager in career development and business planning
  • Administrative management including budget and vendor relations.

  • Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $140,000.00/Yr. – $192,500.00/Yr. plus an additional $25K in Long Term Incentive Plan annually.
