AutoZone's Senior Merchandising Analysts are internal consultants for the merchandising department. They provide the data for the line review process. They track promotions, contest, and team objectives. They monitor all of the team categories making sure objectives are met. They provide a statistical and financial foundation for merchandising decisions. They are responsible for programming in SAS to automate team reporting. Senior Analysts are viewed as a department resource by senior management, as well as an expert for understanding and application of AutoZone data. Must advise and mentor merchandising analysts. Must be open to change, support new initiatives and take the role of innovative leader developing department level solutions and ideas. Must be the team resource for market segmentation, positioning, and customer target data.

  • Provide data for the line review process.

  • Program in SAS to automate team reporting.

  • Support new initiatives and develop department level solutions.
  • Act as a resource for market segmentation, positioning, and customer target data.
  • Consult with category managers on business needs and make pricing recommendations.
  • Analyze data in price optimization software and develop scenarios for pricing recommendations.
  • Monitor and evaluate day-to-day pricing activities across multiple merchandise categories.
  • Develop tools/reports to communicate pricing trends.
  • Measure success of pricing change activity.
  • Assume leadership for broader departmental responsibilities and projects.
  • Review and establish best practices for the team.
  • Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) or equivalent in Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or comparable field.
  • Three to five years of experience in Business Administration, Price Optimization, Statistics, Engineering, or Merchandising related responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of activity-based costing, factor analysis, microeconomics, statistical process control, business process analysis, continuous improvement, and business modeling.
  • Understanding of database structures; query writing skills a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with linear regression, experiments, and time series forecasting.
  • Ability to manage complexity and solve problems through data analysis.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate future trends.
