About The Position

We are seeking a Sr. Membrane Development Engineer in Aseptic filtration R&D team to work within Millipore Sigma Process Solutions Downstream R&D department. This position will be based at our Bedford, MA campus. As part of our R&D organization, the successful candidate will be responsible for research and development projects of novel filtration membrane that enables the future manufacturing of therapeutic biopharmaceuticals. This candidate will lead part or a whole technology and product development efforts to deliver future filtration technologies for a wide range of bioprocessing applications. Activities may include analyzing the problems, evaluating novel technologies and concepts at bench and pilot scale, conceptualizing a technical path forward, scaling-up to manufacturing process, and/or commercializing of new products. This position offers the opportunity to apply solid scientific and engineering principles as well as institutional knowledge, to solve complex scientific and engineering problems. The successful candidate should also be able to think independently to achieve project goals.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Material Science or a related field with 8+ years industry experience in a technical area; or MS in the same field plus 6+ years; or PhD in the same field plus 3+ years.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in polymer membrane making, characterization, and application.
  • Demonstrated track record of innovation and problem-solving.
  • Experience in IP assessment, patent filing, review, application and technical publication/external presentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in leadership role in new product and/or process development.
  • Familiarity with membrane modification processes.
  • Experience in project management, budgeting, risk assessment (e.g. FMEA), validation, and post launch support.
  • Result oriented with unwavering resolve to meet project timelines and customer needs.
  • Capable to work collaboratively with different functions within and outside of the company.
  • Technical expertise in designing and conducting experiments in laboratory or manufacturing setting with good trouble shooting and statistical analysis skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate technical information to different parts of the organization.
