Job PurposeThe primary responsibility of this position is to support the setup, implementation and troubleshooting of the test cells as well as product testing and data collection in the Mechatronics Lab.  Job Duties and Responsibilities Support test automation by building test/control boxes to electrical print and vehicle harnesses per print/specification.  Build electrical control panels from cutouts to wiring.   Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical prints.  Support actuator prototype builds, order components per BOM and assemble prototypes per print/instruction.   Proficient with lab equipment: DMM’s, Oscilloscopes, Environmental Chambers, Data Acquisition Systems, etc.  Set-up and verify test equipment.  Support troubleshooting of test benches- controls and software programming.  Supports safety, cleanliness, and 5S audit processes as directed.   Troubleshooting basic wiring of test systems and vehicle components.  Documentation of testing (test reports) in an accurate and professional manner.  Works well in a team environment to achieve goals.  Initiative to achieve desired results with minimal supervision.  Prototype circuit board builds.    Sourcing components by supplied BOM, build per schematics, guidelines provided and test per instructions provided

Requirements

  • Associates in Electronics Engineering Technology or High School Diploma with 5 years of comparable experience.
  • Strong soldering skills.
  • Experience with building Electronics circuit development boards and soldering SMD’s under a microscope.
  • Experience with scopes, function generators, thermal chambers, digital multimeters, and other electrical design and development tools required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD. Mechanical or electrical, experience preferred.
  • Electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics knowledge and troubleshooting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and implementation experience of Ethernet and serial data protocols, particularly CAN, preferred.
  • Motors and solenoids is preferred.
  • Experience with panel building and wiring.
  • Experience building harnesses for low voltage control circuits and HVDC battery simulators.
  • Knowledge of electronics, differentials, clutch and/or actuators preferred.
  • Troubleshooting electrical control systems preferred.
  • Must be self-directed and motivated, willing to accept responsibility.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills (Fluent in Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to successfully function in a matrix style organization, working with a variety of cross-functional team members
  • Discipline and urgency when completing assignments and associated responsibilities.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work overtime, off shift and weekends, to meet project timing.

Nice To Haves

  • National Instruments, LabVIEW, programming and familiarity with DAQ systems is preferred.
