About The Position

The successful Senior Mechanical Leak Test Technician will assist in planning, developing, conducting, and reporting for hardware testing at Marshall Space Flight Center, in Huntsville, AL. The primary responsibility is physical integrity and leak testing of items which will ultimately be sent into space. This work is being performed to verify all items meet the demanding specifications required for space flight. You can help ensure the success of our spaceflight missions by: Hands on testing of pressure and vacuum systems and components and reporting progress and results. Problem solving and troubleshooting using your knowledge of mechanical leak test methods. Developing, writing, and executing unique pressure testing plans to meet project needs. Providing support to augment a team of Government and contractor engineers. Leveraging your unique talents to expand upon the capabilities of this diverse team.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience supporting leak testing of pressurized equipment.
  • Mechanical assembly/disassembly of test setups of various units under test.
  • Typically requires a HS diploma or GED or equivalent; at least 15 years of experience or an Associate's Degree with at least 13 years of related experience.
  • Strong mechanical background with hands-on experience.
  • Expertise in vacuum, pressure, leak, and proof testing.
  • Familiarity with helium mass spectrometers and performing proof and leak tests.
  • Expertise with cryogen handling, piping, and flowing through systems.
  • Ability to develop test methodology and approaches for requirement verification.
  • Willingness to perform hands-on test setup and testing.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate work to meet schedule requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail when testing and completing documentation.
  • Willingness to perform occasional shift and weekend work.
  • Strong safety mindset and diligence to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship.
