About The Position

Last Mile Delivery & Technology is responsible for envisioning and developing forward-looking initiatives to improve the efficiency, speed, quality, and safety of the delivery experience for customers worldwide. Our team is actively seeking highly-motivated innovators who are eager to transform the future of logistics and delivery solutions. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the mechanical and thermal design, development, and validation of advanced machine vision and compute devices for automotive and industrial applications. You'll work closely with product and operations teams to understand process and business challenges, architect novel solutions, and drive hardware development from concept to production. The ideal candidate demonstrates a hands-on passion for engineering, communicates concepts clearly both verbally and visually, and thrives in a dynamic, highly ambiguous environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and development of consumer, industrial, or automotive electronics
  • Experience developing functional specifications, design validation plans, and functional test procedures
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CREO, or similar)
  • Understanding of production manufacturing processes (injection molding, die casting, sheet metal)
  • Experience writing technical documents, project plans, and progress reports

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • Experience leading engineering design projects and interacting with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with prototyping techniques to enable test platforms and validate design concepts
  • Proficiency with FEA simulation tools for thermal and structural analysis
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and automotive mechanical standards

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design projects from concept through production
  • Partner across engineering, manufacturing, and business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and prioritize project requirements while balancing diverse objectives
  • Design and optimize mechanical components, assemblies, and systems — including design considerations for system integration, material selection, manufacturability, assembly processes, test methods, reliability, and cost
  • Develop detailed engineering drawings with proper geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Perform simulations to analyze structural, thermal, and vibration effects under multiple loading scenarios
  • Develop mechanical test plans — including qualification plans and acceptance criteria for volume production
  • Conduct root cause analyses and implement mitigation strategies throughout the product lifecycle — including design modifications, installation procedures, and maintenance protocols
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and manufacturing partners

Benefits

  • health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage)
