About The Position

DeBra-Kuempel is seeking to fill a Sr. Mechanical Engineer position in our Cincinnati, Ohio location. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will provide knowledge and consultation developing HVAC system solutions for the customer’s problems, including financial and performance-based solutions. This person will work with Project Managers, Piping/Plumbing Estimator, Sheetmetal Estimator, Piping/Plumbing Labor Superintendent, Sheetmetal Labor Superintendent, and Service Managers. The project scopes can be wide ranged; customers include but are not limited to office/welfare, healthcare/hospital, industrial, higher education, and science and technology labs. The system types include but are not limited to building HVAC, chilled/hot water, steam, dust collection, plumbing, drainage, and utility piping and equipment.

Requirements

  • 7-10+ years of engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to evaluate information and analyze problems logically to develop solutions
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word & other Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and their application

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is strongly preferred but not required. In lieu of a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, an Engineer In Training (E.I.T.) certification may be considered
  • High-level understanding of HVAC (air, hydronic, steam), plumbing, and piping systems
  • Competency using Computer Aided Design (C.A.D.) programs such as Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard design software such as Bluebeam, Trace 3D Plus, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to evaluate information and analyze problems logically to develop solutions
  • Attend company meetings to discuss work in progress, budget plans, business plans, and marketing plans on agreed-upon schedules
  • Engineer new, retrofit, repair, and replacement mechanical projects
  • Prepare engineered drawings, equipment selections and technical reports
  • Maintain relationships with existing customers, while developing new relationships and work alongside management and project/service managers
  • Develop relationships with customer’s organization which may include the facility manager, project managers, or purchasing agent
  • Determine customer needs and develop an engineered solution
  • Maintain a sufficient knowledge of products and design criteria needed to adequately analyze and market the department’s services for related projects (Continuing Education)
  • Take ownership of the design-side of engineered work through construction and start-up
  • Identify problems on job site, gather information, and recommend cost-effective solutions
  • Relay prospective solutions to customers and managers
  • Comply with all company operating policies, procedures, executed Plans, and Programs
  • Work collaboratively within the engineering department to create well thought-out solutions
