About The Position

Planning, conducting, and technically directing projects or major phases of significant projects,coordinating the efforts of technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects Interacting frequently as the organizational representative with the customer in the collectionand translation of customer requirements to defined specifications Making frequent contact with customers, teaming partners, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain/exchange information, provide technical direction, and to assist in the resolution of technical issues Identifying, defining, and solving complex technical problems which require a high level of ingenuity and innovativeness based on broad objectives from management Encouraging optimum design within project schedule and funding limitations Interacting frequently as the organizational representative with the customer in the collectionand translation of customer requirements to defined specifications Developing and delivering complex technical presentations to high level program managementand customers Leading major program and/or design reviews and major proposal activities Performing extensive research and complex analysis on a major project to enhance thetechnical and economic development of the product and/or service Completed reports or studies may be deliverable engineering products to the customer Providing functional and technical guidance to engineers, or other organizations Providing leadership and technical direction for a project team Seeking new business opportunities in related technical areas Identifying new customers and/or develops additional tasking with existing customers Providing recommendations and assigning work to technical drawing staff FILLING THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON AWARD

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline
  • Eight years of experience in the areas of mechanical design and engineering including the design, manufacture, and testing of mechanical assemblies to prove operation of design
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate mechanical and electro-mechanical systems and products by applying principles of mechanics and materials
  • Demonstrated experience developing manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components
  • Demonstrated experience with solid modeling, infinite element modeling techniques, and mechanical and thermal stress analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and design project work to meet project objectives and requirements
  • Experience using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software such as Solidworks/Pro Engineer and Visio for creating or documenting system designs
  • This includes experience developing technical data packages and documentation in accordance with DoD standards and instructions
  • Demonstrated experience with extreme power internal combustion machines/engines
  • Demonstrated experience in shock/vibration modeling and simulation and highly accelerated life test/highly accelerated stress screening methodologies
  • A proven background and track record in design for manufacturability
