About The Position

Smith Engineering is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team in the New York Metro area. You will split your time between our Manhattan office and various customer sites. Your Role We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design large-scale, critical facility cooling systems, including performing calculations, selecting equipment, developing contract documents and coordinating with clients, vendors, contractors and other engineers.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or closely related discipline followed by 4-7 years of experience working with HVAC projects including central utility plants
Experience performing all engineering calculations necessary for the development of hvac and central plant systems.
Proficient in developing designs and drawings with 3D modeling software.
Ability to navigate a mechanical room and perform field surveys of piping systems
Working knowledge of DOB Now and NYC Department of Buildings processes and requirements
Experience assisting with construction administration and project management
Outstanding communication skills, verbal and written, along with troubleshooting and problem solving-skills
Technical expertise in basic building systems knowledge
Must be located within 50 miles of New York City.

Responsibilities

Technical Design: Design analyze, inspect, perform field testing, and troubleshoot central energy plant systems to deliver high performing results to your clients
Coordination: Collaborate with clients, architects, electrical engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless integration, ensuring all project requirements are met.
Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure designs adhere to Smith Engineering standards and comply with building codes and standards; Assist in the production of construction documents, including specifications.
Client Relations: Build and maintain strong client relationships through direct communication, by presenting design options and progress reports, and by providing excellent client service.
