Diamond Foundry Inc. is solving the thermal limitation at the foundation of today's most exciting tech industries -- AI & cloud compute, electric-car power electronics, and 5G/6G wireless. We have managed to produce the world's first single-crystal diamond wafers and are now on a mission to put a diamond behind every chip. We are the rare unicorn that has grown fast and profitably. We received $515m in funding and are executing a multi-$B expansion plan for one of the greenest forms of tech manufacturing: converting greenhouse gas into diamond wafers using zero-emission energy. We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in semiconductor equipment design to lead the development of automation systems for the handling, processing, and characterizing of semiconductor-grade diamonds in our foundry. This role will focus on the design and integration of cutting-edge semiconductor equipment, robotics, motion control systems, and computer vision technologies for highly precise operations. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in semiconductor manufacturing equipment design and build, with a solid foundation in mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering.

  • Hands-on work in the design, development, and optimization of semiconductor-grade equipment for handling, processing, and characterizing diamond wafer products
  • Collaborate with vendors and cross-functional teams to design and integrate complex semiconductor equipment components and automation systems into production lines
  • Work closely with manufacturing and process engineers to develop and implement automation solutions that enhance system efficiency, throughput, and reliability
  • Generate clear, detailed documentation of equipment designs, integration processes, and troubleshooting procedures
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical, or a related field with 5+ years of experience in equipment design especially automation equipment.
  • Expertise in 3D/2D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
  • Experience with automation such as robotics, fixturing, related manufacturing tools. PLC programming, robotics, Python, and related are helpful
  • Experience with fabrication (e.g., machining, soldering, electro-mechanical assembly, lathe/mill, 3D printing, welding). Semiconductor experience is a bonus (e.g., wafer handling, deposition, etching)
  • Experience in GD&T and conducting micron-level tolerance analysis
  • Health insurance
  • Flexible spending accounts
  • Retirement savings plans
  • Life and disability insurance programs
  • Paid and unpaid time away from work
  • Employee discounts to VRAI
