About The Position

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer at Medtronic, you will play a crucial role in the research, design, and development of mechanical and electromechanical products and systems, particularly focusing on implantable and external neurostimulators. This position involves managing projects from conception to implementation, ensuring compliance with industry standards and product requirements while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or scientific discipline and 4+ years experience in technical design and testing or engineering experience, OR an Advanced Degree in engineering or scientific discipline and 2+ years experience in technical testing and engineering experience.
  • Experience generating system requirements for mechanical designs.
  • Experience with machining and material selection for rapid prototyping.
  • Ability to clearly document work, articulate and present ideas and test results to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience working in regulated industries such as medical devices.
  • Demonstrated ability for independent work.
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and communication skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, develop, and verify mechanical and electromechanical systems.
  • Manage projects through all stages, from R&D to manufacturing, ensuring they meet product requirements, technical specifications, timelines, and budget constraints.
  • Recommend and implement options or approaches to enhance safety, performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of systems, processes, and facilities.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical and systems engineers, to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Analyze complex engineering problems, providing in-depth analysis and innovative solutions to improve processes and products.
  • Oversee the creation of prototypes and conduct rigorous testing to validate and refine designs, including design characterization and verification protocols.
  • Prepare detailed engineering documentation and ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and department best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with senior internal and external stakeholders.
