Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience performing electrical testing, including Hi Pot testing in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong understanding of electrical theory, insulation systems, and high-voltage safety practices
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings
  • Familiarity with UL, IEC, ANSI, or other relevant electrical standards preferred
  • Proficiency with electrical test equipment such as Hi Pot testers, multimeters, and insulation resistance testers
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
  • Basic computer skills for data entry, reporting, and documentation

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field preferred
  • Familiarity with UL, IEC, ANSI, or other relevant electrical standards preferred

Responsibilities

  • Hi Pot Testing & Electrical Validation: Perform high potential (dielectric withstand) testing on electrical assemblies, power distribution units, switchgear, busbar systems, and related equipment to verify insulation integrity and compliance with engineering and safety standards.
  • Test Setup & Execution: Configure and operate Hi Pot and associated electrical test equipment; ensure proper test parameters, voltage levels, and documentation in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis: Diagnose electrical failures identified during Hi Pot testing; collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Standards Compliance: Ensure all testing activities meet applicable regulatory and industry standards (e.g., UL, IEC, ANSI) and internal quality requirements.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Accurately record test results, complete inspection reports, and maintain traceability documentation in quality systems. Escalate non-conformances as required.
  • Process Improvement: Lead initiatives to improve testing procedures, reduce rework, and enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability of electrical validation processes.
  • Equipment Calibration & Maintenance: Verify calibration status of test equipment and coordinate maintenance or repair as needed to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Training & Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and training to junior technicians on Hi Pot testing procedures, safety protocols, and best practices.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all electrical safety standards, PPE requirements, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
