About The Position

Warehouse Sr. material handlers are responsible for executing day-to-day warehouse operations by following a varied set of procedures to ensure efficient movement, storage, and shipment of goods. Responsibilities include managing the receipt, inspection, and organization of inbound shipments, ensuring accurate product storage and inventory management. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving operational issues, such as discrepancies in inventory or equipment malfunctions, by applying critical thinking skills and leveraging available resources. The Sr. Material Handler operates advanced warehouse equipment like forklifts and automated systems, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of goods. They support the continuous improvement of processes by identifying areas for greater efficiency and contributing ideas for operational enhancements. Communication with internal teams and external vendors is regular, often requiring explanations and clarification to ensure smooth operations and alignment across departments. The position manages tasks that involve less predictable or more complex challenges, often requiring the application of past experiences and the selection of solutions from known alternatives.

Requirements

  • High School education or GED preferred.
  • 1-2 years’ experience.
  • Ability to use proper techniques to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to follow directions, with an emphasis on safety.
  • Ability to use hands and feet simultaneously and for repetitive movements.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA Forklift and HAZMAT certification.
  • Warehouse/distribution experience.
  • Experience with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) like reach truck operators and order pickers.

Responsibilities

  • Execute day-to-day warehouse operations by following a varied set of procedures to ensure efficient movement, storage, and shipment of goods.
  • Manage the receipt, inspection, and organization of inbound shipments, ensuring accurate product storage and inventory management.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, such as discrepancies in inventory or equipment malfunctions, by applying critical thinking skills and leveraging available resources.
  • Operate advanced warehouse equipment like forklifts and automated systems and ensure the safe and efficient movement of goods.
  • Support the continuous improvement of processes by identifying areas for greater efficiency and contributing ideas for operational enhancements.
  • Communicate regularly with internal teams and external vendors to gather and share information, often providing explanations and clarification to ensure smooth operations and alignment across departments.
  • Manage tasks that involve less predictable or more complex challenges, often requiring the application of past experiences and the selection of solutions from known alternatives.
  • Unload trucks, trailers, and containers of freight; count products; compare against the manifest to check all shipments for damage, infestation, or production code dates.
  • Report shortages, damages, and mis-shipments on appropriate forms.
  • Sign for inbound shipments when necessary.
  • Safely move inbound shipments to storage locations and efficiently stack as store merchandise.
  • Ensure that the correct product number, quantity, and product type (lot, batch, serial number) are picked.
  • Transport orders to shipping locations or delivery platforms using material handling equipment, such as forklifts, cherry pickers, or pallet jacks.
  • Label, stencil, tag, mark orders, band, bundle, wrap, over-pack, and palletize as required.
  • Compare quantity, labeling, and address with the order to ensure outgoing shipments are complete and correct.
  • Assign signature for outbound, as necessary.
  • Efficiently move products, cartons, and pallets into trailers, rail cars, or containers.
  • Maintain equipment in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Comply with company standards and OSHA requirements.
  • Keep accurate records and reports.
  • Assist in physical inventory and cycle counts.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation.
  • Key inventory adjustments in the computer.
  • Repack or re-box cases with customer instructions.
  • Repair and consolidate damaged goods as required.
  • Operate the shrink-wrap machine.
  • Charge forklift battery as needed; stack and or separate good from bad pallets when necessary; clean railcars, trailers, and truck docks, and bays as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
