About The Position

Nordson Industrial Coating Solutions, a global leader in Industrial Coating Solutions, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace, and we are looking for candidates who share that same commitment. Summary of the role As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, where your ideas and contributions will be valued and respected. The Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer provides the technical expertise necessary to achieve Operational Excellence in manufacturing by applying strong hands‑on electrical knowledge to support production operations, resolve complex technical issues, and continuously improve assembly and test processes. This role develops and enhances product build standards, optimizes material workflow within the work cell, creates effective job aids, and ensures the smooth integration of electrical/electronic products into manufacturing. Serving as a key liaison among Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Operations, and other engineering organizations, the Manufacturing Test Engineer addresses customer quality issues, supports new product introduction (NPI), and collaborates on design and process improvements to deliver high‑quality products on time and with exceptional consistency.

Requirements

  • Detail-oriented, self-starter with strong communication and organizational skills.
  • The successful candidate will have a proven ability to multi-task and work collaboratively and independently in a dynamic environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering
  • In lieu of a degree, 8 years of related experience will be considered
  • 3-5 years experience
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for electrical/electronic systems.
  • Understanding of manufacturing engineering tools and methods (Lean, PFMEA, standard work, problem solving).
  • Experience with manufacturing documentation, equipment validation, and process qualification.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and basic CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively.
  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on approach to solving problems in a production environment.
  • Programming Experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on electrical and production troubleshooting to quickly resolve issues affecting uptime, quality, or throughput, including diagnosing electrical failures during assembly, test, or end-of-line verification.
  • Develop, optimize, and standardize manufacturing processes using lean principles, ergonomics, quality controls, and best-practice assembly methods to improve efficiency and product consistency.
  • Lead and participate in investigations for production or customer-reported quality issues, driving corrective and preventive actions that address root causes for both electrical and mechanical contributors.
  • Support and refine manufacturing test methods for electrical/electronic products, including defining test requirements, acceptance criteria, and failure-analysis procedures.
  • Partner with Product Development by participating in design reviews, supporting pilot builds, ensuring manufacturability, and preparing robust process documentation prior to release.
  • Recommend and implement design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) improvements, ensuring product changes support stable, efficient, and sustainable manufacturing.
  • Create, maintain, and improve manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, job aids, standard work, and process flows, ensuring clarity and accuracy for production teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Product Development, and Inventory Control—to ensure technical issues are resolved, processes remain stable, and production readiness is maintained.
  • Evaluate and improve workcell and production line layouts to enhance material flow, labor utilization, and floor-space effectiveness.
  • Provide technical input for equipment purchases, upgrades, or line modifications, especially where electrical systems or testing capabilities are affected.
  • Ensure proper handling, assembly, and testing of electrical/electronic components by providing training, guidance, and documentation support for production personnel.
  • Support continuous improvement and Operational Excellence initiatives, leveraging data, root-cause methods, and structured problem-solving tools to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
