Location/Division Specific Information: You'll be based in our Rochester site, where science meets everyday impact. Here, we make the essential lab plastics that help drive breakthroughs in vaccines, biologic therapies, and diagnostic kits. This campus is also the manufacturing site for Thermo Fisher Scientific's Nalgene® labware and the Nalgene® reusable water bottles produced for global distribution. How Will You Make an Impact?: Join our collaborative team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Sr Manufacturing Engineering Technician, where you'll contribute to maintaining and optimizing manufacturing processes that enable scientific discoveries. You'll work with advanced equipment and technologies to ensure smooth operations while adhering to quality standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, maintenance, or a related role required
  • Experience with PLC systems, SCADA, and automated manufacturing equipment preferred
  • Experience performing equipment calibration and validation
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and documentation
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and automated systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and equipment documentation
  • Knowledge of GMP, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements in manufacturing environments
  • Expertise using precision measurement tools and test equipment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing software systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions
  • Ability to work different shifts and respond to emergency calls as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred fields of study: Engineering Technology, Electronics, Instrumentation, or related technical field
  • Technical or trade school certification in a relevant discipline preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a safe work environment by following standards and procedures, aligning with legal regulations.
  • Identifies, documents, and implements opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Perform immediate and preventative maintenance for manufacturing production equipment
  • Engages the Maintenance and Engineering team to challenge the status quo to make continuous operational improvements.
  • Collaborate with all appropriate departments/staff in progress updates, problem analysis, and corrective action recommendations.
  • Work with Molding, Scheduling and Production Manager on prioritizing machine repair scheduling.
  • Work closely with robotics, vision systems, ultrasonic welding, and off‑set & inkjet printing to produce finished assemblies
