About The Position

SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Engineer IV has the primary responsibility of being an active, hands-on leader for developing, defining, and improving new and existing manufacturing processes. The position is responsible for developing a deep understanding of assigned manufacturing areas to drive improvements that reduce manufacturing costs, reduce downtime, and improve process stability and capability. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead and participates in projects involving the design, fabrication, validation, and manufacture of complex instrument subassemblies, systems, or processes. Lead continuous improvement projects that will reduce safety risks, improve process ergonomics, reduce cost, improve efficiency, and/or improve quality. Spearhead initiatives to identify and implement new technology and systems to improve operations. Gives appropriate helpful information specific to the issue, uses examples, ties feedback to specific business issues. Assist Design Engineering with design, feasibility review, testing and implementation of new programs or program modifications. Interacts well with internal and external collaborators. Employ tools to make/facilitate process changes to operational procedures and practices Implement training enhancements where necessary Identify process changes and upgrades that will enhance the overall plant performance. Ability to assist on the physical operation of equipment and interaction with Production personnel on all levels Work with the Director of Plant Engineering to engage resources and to develop long term plans and strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
  • 7-10+ years of experience in process and project engineering
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting is required
  • Read and understand drawings and blueprints
  • Experience with metal cut, form, weld, and powder paint operations
  • Must possess effective written, verbal and oral communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Proficient in Office, MRP and AutoCAD/Inventor
  • Willing to work flexible shifts and change work schedules to support production
  • Willingness to travel as necessary

  • Kaizen / Continuous Improvement experience a plus, as well as 5S methodology
  • Understands principles of Lean such as lead time reduction, SMED, and one-piece flow
