The Cedar Rapids facility is a brand new, state-of-the-art facility, with work still in process for production equipment. This is a unique opportunity to work cross-functionally as a member of the startup team for the new facility. We are seeking a motivated individual with an analytical approach to provide technical leadership as we startup a new manufacturing facility. This role will lead our efforts to add large-scale customized automated equipment for the fabrication of sheet metal assemblies to this new facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or better in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Ability to interface with all levels of the organization internally and externally
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Experience using Solidworks and AutoCad
  • Experience with SPC and Process Capabilities
  • Experience with Safety risk assessment and validation process
  • Experience with welding and finishing technologies for Stainless Steel
  • Experience with robotics industrial and collaborative, Fanuc preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of Electro-Mechanical and PLC controlled systems, including robust system design and design for functional safety
  • Experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role with progressive growth in responsibilities, 10+ years preferred

  • Working knowledge of GD&T principles
  • Experience processing highly cosmetic, thin-gauge metals
  • Experience programming of CNC equipment
  • Understanding of sheet metal fabrication equipment and processes

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects start to finish to select, order, review design, install, and startup large scale custom automation for processing of sheet metal assemblies
  • Work collaboratively with other engineering functions, manufacturing operations, and stakeholders to gather and analyze process data and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste
  • Research new process technology and develop concepts for cost efficient and robust fabrication and assembly processes
  • Provide early input to New Product Development teams to support design for manufacturability and identify critical manufacturing requirements
  • Support other industrial and manufacturing engineering projects as needed
  • Provides technical operations support for fabrication manufacturing problems
  • Develops and leads process-improvement initiatives to address specific issues as they arise
  • Utilizes Plan, Do, Check and Adjust methodology for managing daily improvement MDI
  • Capable of recognizing opportunities for improvement and generating a list of ideas for annual plant operational improvement
  • Utilizes lean methods Kaizen for process improvements and utilizes daily coaching for sustainment
  • Utilizes operational data to make informed decisions on a daily basis
  • Ensures layered audits are completed as scheduled and implements countermeasures to safeguard goal attainment
  • Uses metrics for accountability to mark improvement or need for improvement
  • Provides engineering support and resources to sustain plant production including assisting with plant facilities and production equipment maintenance
  • Financial acumen for data analysis of trends and tendencies, tenacity in the performance of the tasks within the role, and continuous improvement Lean Management
